Commemorative Medallion
The front of this medallion depicts Lafayette, a tireless advocate for freedom, justice, and equality for all. The reverse side (designed by local artist Hal Broadfoot) illustrates his arrival in Fayetteville by carriage on March 4, 1825.  (Another date commemorates the exact date when our city was named for Lafayette by the State Assembly of North Carolina.)
Only 250 of these solid bronze (55 mm) commemorative “coins” were pressed.

$35 (or two for $60) plus tax.

Commemorative Mug
Start your day inspired by Lafayette as you enjoy your French roast coffee (or other beverage of your choice!)  The image is from an original etching of Fayetteville’s 1788 State House, which burned in the Great Fire of 1831 and was replaced by the Town House/Market House. Lafayette was welcomed here by Fayetteville dignitaries in 1825. The etching was done by a Lafayette family friend named Horace Say in 1814 when he was travelling through the United States in 1814. The original still hangs in Le Grange, Lafayette’s chateau outside Paris.
$15

Wine Glass
Make a toast in honor of America’s favorite fighting Frenchman!  A little smaller than a standard white wine glass, this one fits comfortably into your hand.
$10 each or 2 for $15 plus tax.

Slate Coaster
Perfect for protecting wooden surfaces. The Lafayette Society logo also makes this a great display item for a bookshelf or cabinet.
$8.50 or two for $15

Ribbon
Start your own Lafayette Collection for just $3 with this replica of a “silk badge” from Lafayette’s Farewell Tour of 1824-25! Commemorative ribbons like this were worn by thousands of people who turned out to see Lafayette and kept them as souvenirs to be handed down from one generation to the next. (History factoid: it was one of the first examples of the use of fabrics for promotional printing, thanks to the new, flourishing American industry of textile manufacturing; campaign ribbons followed soon after).

Our replica also makes a dandy bookmark! Made from modern materials, it is much “stiffer” than silk and is the perfect way to mark your place in your next book on Lafayette. Buy 2 for only $5 and you can keep the other one in your growing Lafayette Collection!
